Quite simply, this means “reacting with oxygen” and all the fluids in your vehicle react in different ways. Lets consider something a little easier to relate to…..a contraption in your back yard maybe like a swing set. When it is first assembled it is a joy to behold—the paint is beautiful, the chrome is shiny, and all the rubber and plastic parts have their original color. But after days and weeks and months something dreadful happens—the paint starts to fade, the metal parts start to rust, and the plastic surfaces change color and turn powdery on the surface—YOUR SWING SET HAS OXIDIZED!!! The oxygen in the air and water(H2O) has attacked your swing set and the sun has accelerated this chemical reaction by heating the oxygen molecules thus speeding up the deterioration of your property…..

The same thing is happening to the fluids in your car—they are reacting to air, moisture, and heat and are deteriorating rapidly –your motor oil is thickening, your fuel is leaving carbon residue, your coolant is turning acidic, and your transmission fluid is getting gummy—all because of OXIDATION
